01 The brief
Prism had eighteen years of work and a website that showed forty images in a grid, all the same size, in no particular order. Their brief was almost a complaint: make it feel like an exhibition, not a contact sheet.
A portfolio site for a photographer who does not like portfolio sites.
01 The brief
Prism had eighteen years of work and a website that showed forty images in a grid, all the same size, in no particular order. Their brief was almost a complaint: make it feel like an exhibition, not a contact sheet.
02 What we did
We treated the site as a sequence rather than a gallery. Images are sized by how much room they need, the pace changes deliberately as you scroll, and there is no filter bar — the order is the curation, and Prism control it.
The identity came out of the same idea: one typeface, generous space, and nothing that competes with a photograph.
03 How it landed
In build. Launching in September, ahead of their autumn exhibition.
· How it ran
The whole thing took 7 weeks, with Prism in the room for every phase.
Weeks 1–2
Cut eighteen years of archive down to the forty images the site is built around.
Weeks 3–4
One typeface, one rule about space, nothing that competes with a photograph.
Weeks 5–7
In progress — launching ahead of the autumn exhibition.
